Autologous Transplants

The second type and variety of bone marrow transplant blood type matches are called Autologous Bone-Marrow transplants. Here the recipient/patient and the donor are the same individuals. The healthy stem cells of the patient can be obtained from his/her body and re-administered after certain treatment. However, chemotherapy is carried out first for removing the disease. The procedure can treat the damaged bone marrow of the patient and ensure that it can produce healthy stem cells and blood cells again. The Autologous transplant is usually carried out in cases of lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
